Creative Futures
Bournemouth Screen Academy, a Skillset Screen Academy
We support and promote entrance to and success within the UK film industry for all talented individuals.
We do this by:
- raising aspirations for young people through mentoring and summer school programmes;
- upskilling secondary school media teachers in current practice and developments;
- enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate curriculums to incorporate a broad knowledge of the industry;
- appointing Practitioners in Residence to support students’ practical development and awareness of business skills within the industry;
- providing short film-based courses to a broad audience including industry professionals;
- running a mentoring programme for current and recent graduates;
- providing bursary support to existing students;
- appointing a Business Fellow to promote the Academy within industry and ensure ongoing dialogue;
- appointing regional Academy Ambassadors to enable awareness of local issues and to disseminate the remit of the Academy to a broader geographical audience;
- publicising the success of our students.
The Bournemouth Screen Academy is a collaborative project between the Arts Institute and Bournemouth University’s Media School, and is funded by Skillset and the UK Film Council.
